Thompson Peak Veterinary Clinic is owned by Dr. Ryan DePaul. He was raised in Surprise Valley, CA on his parents’ ranch. He graduated from Surprise Valley High School in 1997 and attended the University of Nevada, Reno. While going to school he spent 4 years working for the UNR Experiment Main Station Ranch and worked on numerous research programs including Foothill Abortion Trials. He graduated the University of Nevada, Reno in 2001.
Dr. DePaul received his DVM degree from Oregon State University in 2005. Dr. DePaul moved to Alturas, CA and started working for Modoc Veterinary Center in the summer of 2005 and he became a partner in 2007. In 2015, Dr DePaul purchased Thompson Peak Veterinary Clinic along with a fellow veterinarian and then became sole owner in 2019. He has enjoyed expanding his business into the Susanville area and loves coming down to spend time with our clients whenever possible. Dr. DePaul specializes in Equine Dentistry and is a Certified Equine and Small Animal Chiropractor.
Dr. DePaul loves being able to spend time with his family and wife Kristen. Dr. DePaul has five kids, Julianna, Caelli, Abigail, Joshua, and Leigha. He enjoys spending time with his family, sports, hunting, fishing, camping and helping out with his family ranch.
Dr. DePaul enjoys his time practicing veterinary medicine in both Modoc and Lassen counties and he is very thankful to be able to serve them.

Dr Kalee Terrill was born and raised here in Susanville, Ca. She graduated from Lassen High School in 2008 and attended CSU, Chico, where she received her BS in Animal Science while working at the university’s Dairy Unit. After graduating from CSU, Chico, Dr. Terrill attended Kansas State University and graduated cum laude with her DVM in 2019. Upon graduation, Dr. Terrill came home to begin practicing at Thompson Peak Veterinary Clinic. She is thrilled to be home in the mountains where she enjoys spending time outdoors, playing music and drawing.

As Office Manager, Kikumi Rigney draws on her extensive veterinary background, which began when she moved to the U.S. from Japan in 1997. Starting as a vet technician in 1998, she’s built a career spanning 25+ years in animal care. Kikumi has been with Thompson Peak Veterinary Clinic since its opening with Dr. Rich Meinert and continues serving our community daily. Kikumi lives in the Susanville area with her husband, two children, three dogs, Raider, Mollee, and Yuki, and a cat, Ashton. When she’s not managing our practice operations, she enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors and with her family. Her blend of technical expertise and warm personality makes her an invaluable leader of our veterinary team.

Ashley completed her veterinary assistant classes, and joined our team after 6 years of experience in Monterey Ca. her hometown. Ashley is our bully lover and has 3 at home named Karma, Rebel, Outlaw and the 2 Frenchie’s Stitch and Maverick. She and her husband also share a home with 2 cats in Susanville. Susanna received her B.A. in psychology from Chico State and her A.S. in Veterinary Technology from Yuba College. She rescued a feral kitten many years ago named Blacky that does not like other animals, so she is an only 4 legged child. Susanna and her family enjoy spending time in nature hiking and fishing. When Kimber, her 10 yr old German Shepherd, was a puppy she became fascinated with vet medicine. Her interest blossomed from there turning into the passion she has now, loving to care for them, as well as the science & medical aspect of the profession. She shows this with her attention and care in the rooms with our patients.
Her family stays busy loving the outdoors and hiking. They also have an older dog Charlie and 3 chickens at home.

Tarah is our energetic just say “yes” go-to-person on the team. She is always there to help with a smile, our pet patients and clients love her.

Bailey was born and raised in Susanville, graduating Lassen High in 2017. She was very involved in 4H and FFA raising a small flock of show sheep. She still helps our local youth with showmanship lessons for 4 H members. Breeding sheep over the years brought its challenges which sparked her interest in vet medicine. Bailey has great customer service skills to add to our team up front and is taking on new challenges as an Assistant Technician.
Bailey and her high school sweetheart married this last year and have made their home here. They love the outdoors (fishing, hunting, golfing etc.) and have two four legged kids. “Missy” a blue heeler and “Boone” a border collie.

Janet grew up in New England and came to us with a variety of experiences which included everything from art and haircutting to running sled dogs in Alaska. She has many memories of working in a boarding kennel in the San Diego area and living working on a cutting horse & stock dog facility. She is known for her love of training her Border Collies and has competed and placed very well in tons of competitions over the years. Her experience and big heart are noticed when she is at the desk in the front.
Janet and her husband make their home on many acres in Doyle, surrounded by her best horse, cats, ducks, lots of sheep and of course her many Border Collies of 16 years.

Growing up with a veterinary technician mother in Redding, California, Megan’s passion for animal care started early. Since making Susanville her home in 2022, she has embraced her role as a veterinary assistant with enthusiasm. Her natural affinity for animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats, combined with her eagerness to learn more about veterinary medicine, makes her a compassionate caregiver for our patients. Outside of work, Megan enjoys life with her boyfriend and her beloved dog, Ripp.
